One of the distressing effects of the peri-menopause transition for a number of women is the difficulty with falling asleep or staying asleep. On those nights when you just can't take it anymore, or even as part of a new sleep routine – try our protein packed Send Me to Sleep Peri-Meno Hot Chocolate for a helping hand. In particular this recipe focuses on;
- Magnesium: Dark chocolate contains magnesium, which can aid in adjusting to the circadian rhythm and may have sleep-related benefits
- Warmth: Drinking a warm beverage before bed can help raise body temperature slightly, which then facilitates cooling down – a process that aids in falling asleep
- Psychological effects: The comforting aroma and taste of hot chocolate can evoke positive feelings and memories, promoting relaxation
- Serotonin boost: The tryptophan in this hot chocolate recipe can lead to increased serotonin levels, creating a sense of contentment and relaxation
- Stress reduction: The combination of ingredients may help ease stress and anxiety, which can interfere with sleep
However, it's important to note:
- Effects may vary from person to person depending on individual factors and overall diet.
