New Zealand Blackcurrant Extract Builds Blood Vessels in the Brain!

Smarter by Nature: How NZ Blackcurrants Boost Brain Power

You read that correctly. Everee 4, your post-menopause ally, is built on the world’s most complete collagen with more of the neurotransmitter glutamic acid to support brain function than traditional collagens. But more than that, it contains New Zealand blackcurrant extract cGP, a unique extract clinically proven to boost cognitive performance through increased brain vascularisation.

How can blackcurrants build brain vessels?

New Zealand blackcurrants contain a specific peptide called cyclic glycine-proline (cGP). This peptide helps regulate an important hormone called IGF-1. IGF-1 plays a key role in triggering the formation of small blood vessels in the brain, a process known as microvascularisation.

IGF-1 can be either “bound” (inactive) or “free” (active). cGP prevents IGF-1 from becoming bound, allowing it to remain active and support healthy blood vessel growth in the brain.

As we age, brain vascularisation naturally declines — a key contributor to cognitive decline and conditions such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

While IGF-1 itself cannot be taken as a supplement (it doesn’t survive digestion), cGP is stable, survives digestion, and boosts IGF-1 activity in the body, supporting improved brain function — particularly post-menopause.

Simply put: New Zealand blackcurrants help the brain grow tiny new blood vessels, keeping the brain healthy and supporting clearer thinking as we age.

Dr Alisa Roddick-Lanzilotta and Dr Amanda Wiggins with Everee #4

Meet the brains behind Everee #4 — Dr Alisa Roddick-Lanzilotta (Head of R&D, Everee Women) and Dr Amanda Wiggins (CEO, cGP Lab).

Is this real science?

Absolutely. The discovery and research into cGP in New Zealand blackcurrants was led by Auckland University neuroscientist Dr Jian Guan in 2017.

Working alongside Sir Peter Gluckman, founder of the Liggins Institute and former Chief Science Advisor to the Prime Minister, Dr Guan has conducted extensive trials on cGP, including a clinical trial in Parkinson’s disease patients.

These trials demonstrated elevated cGP concentrations in brain fluid, supporting cognitive benefits linked to increased IGF-1 activity and brain vascularisation.

This body of work includes 44 peer-reviewed scientific publications and has established Dr Guan as a global expert in IGF-1 and brain health.

Why New Zealand blackcurrants?

New Zealand’s high UV environment drives higher concentrations of protective compounds in blackcurrants, enhancing their natural cGP content.

While it is theoretically possible to obtain cGP by eating blackcurrants, the amount required daily would be impractical. The cGP team has developed a proprietary process to extract and stabilise cGP, allowing it to be conveniently included in Everee 4.

A core value of Everee Women™ is using proven science and the best biological ingredients New Zealand offers. For post-menopause brain health, those ingredients are Ovitage®, the world’s most complete collagen, and cGP — clinically proven to enhance cognitive performance.
