5 Ways to Support Your Sisters Through the Festive Season

5 Ways to Support Your Sisters Through the Festive Season

The festive season can be a beautiful blend of joy, chaos, connection, late nights, long to-do lists, and moments where your nervous system whispers: please sit down. For many women in peri or post-menopause, December can amplify everything, the fun, the fatigue, the emotions, the heat, the expectations.

And while nutrition, rituals, and rest absolutely play a role, one of the biggest sources of strength this time of year is something we talk about often at Everee: Sisterhood.

As we shared in our Collective Wisdom series, opening up to the women around us — biological sisters, chosen sisters, best friends, or colleagues — can transform how we experience life’s tougher moments. December is the perfect moment to lean into that support, and to offer it right back.

Here are five simple, meaningful ways to support your sisters through the season.

1. Check In — Really Check In

A quick “How are you?” often gets met with “Good, busy!” even when the truth is… not that.

Try a different approach:

  • “How are you feeling today?”
  • “What do you need more of this week?”
  • “What’s feeling heavy?”

These small shifts invite honesty. And honesty is where connection begins.

If she’s navigating hot flushes, fatigue, mood swings, or anxious patches, a simple check-in can be the moment she stops pretending she’s fine and feels seen instead.

2. Lighten Her Load (Even If She Doesn’t Ask)

Women are brilliant at carrying the emotional workload of December, planning, hosting, buying, remembering, smoothing, organising… the invisible to-do list no one wrote but everyone expects.

Support looks like:

  • Bringing a plate without asking what she needs
  • Offering to pick something up on your way
  • Taking a task off her list, not adding one
  • Sending a meal, a coffee, or a quiet hour her way

It doesn’t have to be grand. It just has to be thoughtful.

3. Hold Space Without Trying to Fix Anything

In our blog for partners, we talk about how people often want to “solve” menopause. Sisters can be the same, we love hard and we want to help.

But sometimes the most powerful support is simply holding space.

You don’t need perfect advice. You just need presence.
A walk, a coffee and a chat, a message that says: “I’m here. Say everything or say nothing.”

Let her arrive just as she is.

4. Share What’s Helping You (Not What She “Should” Do)

One of the most beautiful parts of sisterhood is sharing what’s getting us through — whether that’s a breathwork practice, a supplement routine, a boundary we finally set, or a recipe that brings joy.

Instead of:

“Here’s what you should try…”

Try:

“This helped me, if it feels right, I’d love to share it with you.”

Women learn from each other. We soften through each other. That’s the heart of Collective Wisdom.

(And yes, if Everee #3 or Everee #4 is helping you feel steadier this season, share that too — rituals are often easier when you do them together.)

5. Normalise Rest, Slowness & Saying No

One of the kindest gifts you can give a sister is permission to do less, especially when hormones are shifting and energy isn’t infinite.

Say things like:

  • “It’s okay if you need to leave early.”
  • “Let’s have a quiet morning instead.”
  • “You don’t need to host this year.”
  • “Rest is allowed.”

December often asks us to push. Sisterhood reminds us we’re allowed to pause.

This Season, Lean In —
and Let Others Lean In Too

Supporting each other through peri and post-menopause isn’t dramatic or complicated. It’s made of tiny, human moments: soft honesty, shared meals, gentle invitations, conversations that crack open the silence, and reminders that we’re not meant to do this alone.

As we’ve shared in our Collective Wisdom blogs: talking about menopause isn’t just conversation — it’s an act of love.

May your festive season be full of those small acts.
May you give them freely.
And may you receive them without hesitation.

With love,
Everee Women™ – Collective Wisdom
