The Everee team are thrilled to announce the launch of the Everee Lab, a community of women providing feedback on real issues, real health impacts at different life stages, and the impact of nutrition on health, wellness and quality of life. The solutions that Everee Women develops are based on a foundational understanding of nutrition, metabolism and how the relative importance of different bodily systems changes throughout a woman's life. While peer review scientific literature provides an excellent and essential foundation for developing nutritional solutions, real life and lived experience shape what actually works in practice.

The Everee Lab is the place that lived experience gives honest and direct feedback on health and wellness issues in a structured manner to enable the Everee team to listen and learn from women at every stage of their lives. This will lead to guidance on how and when to use the current Everee range in the best way and, most importantly, guide the Everee Lab development of future nutrition solutions for women's health and wellness

The initial studies underway involve cohorts of volunteers from New Zealand, Canada and the USA who are recording observations over a three month period and answering a range of health and wellness questions over this time. Questionnaires are developed and analysis undertaken by the Everee Lab team, led by Dr Alisa Roddick-Lanzilotta with support from Dr Rob Kelly and Diana Kerr.

Initial Findings in the Everee Lab

The first study is focusing Everee #3 and Everee #4. Although the study is ongoing, initial results are already providing insights into areas of impact of Everee #3.

After 4 weeks on Everee #3 - Peri-Menopause Support:

→ 80% said there was a noticeable improvement in digestion and comfort from week 1, with further improvements in week 2 and 3.

→ 80% said there was a noticeable improvement in mental clarity, emotional balance or focus by week 2.

→ 100% said there was a noticeable improvement in sleep quality, duration, or consistency by week 3.

Week two I’ve noticed a massive improvement in regularity, less bloating and digestive discomfort. Also… my poop is normal again!

What does this tell us

Results in the Everee Lab are still preliminary as the study is still ongoing and the initial cohort is a small group of 5 volunteers, however, these initial findings are consistent with recent high profile research on the importance of amino acids in gut health and gut tissue integrity. Gut health and leaky gut are well documented issues in peri menopause arising from significant changes in the gut microbiome and its impact on oestrogen levels and gut tissue (1). The gut-brain axis is also a well established connection that shows the importance of gut health in mental clarity and emotional balance (2).

Research from MIT in Boston published in the prestigious journal Nature in September this year identified for the first time the importance of the sulfur amino acid cysteine in healing intestinal tissue, as well as the pathways involved in healing process (3). This important finding may explain some of the Everee Lab observations.

Everee Lab

The novel protein Ovitage® in Everee #3 contains a higher proportion of the amino acid cystine in a stablished, oxidised form than conventional proteins, arising from the novel sheep skin source. This sulfur amino acid can help ensure that the body has cysteine available, which the MIT researchers have found to be important for intestinal repair. This may explain the improvements in gut comfort and potentially even mental clarity.

This may also provide clues to the observations related to improved sleep. The significance of the sleep observations is a surprising finding for the Everee Lab team and we are working to understand the mechanism behind this.

As more results are collated and analysed the impact will flow through to the design of women’s health solutions. The Everee Lab will provide regular updates as these come together.
